Position: Assistant Professor – Psychology (Tenure‑Track)
Location: Cheney Campus, Spokane County, Washington
Salary: $69,704 (annual)
Start Date: September 16, 2026
Hours: 9 months per academic year (mid‑September to mid‑June)
Job SummaryEastern Washington University’s College of Professional Programs – School of Psychology invites applications for a Tenure‑Track Assistant Professor of Psychology to support the NASP accredited EdS School Psychology Program and other School of Psychology needs. The position requires candidates to be located in or willing to relocate to the greater Spokane‑Cheney area.
Responsibilities- Teach 36 credits per academic year, including online and hybrid courses in the NASP accredited EdS program.
- Develop, deliver, and assess course content, materials, assignments, attendance, and grading.
- Schedule and attend office hours; write letters of recommendation for students; engage in effective student advising.
- Supervise practicum/internship students and other applied‑experience programs.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, classroom instruction, and student supervision.
- Participate in program and university committees, school meetings, and retreats; support NASP approval activities.
- Conduct research, scholarship, and/or creative activities; pursue research funding through grant development.
- Ph.D., Psy.
D., Ed.D., or ABD in School Psychology; ABD candidates will be considered if the doctorate is conferred by 9/1/2026. - Eligible for Washington State ESA certification in school psychology.
- Ability to teach courses within school psychology and relevant specialty areas, demonstrated by coursework, prior teaching experience, research, and/or publications/presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to advise students and supervise practicum/internship, applied experiences, and/or research.
- Competent with basic computer processes including word processing, database, email, and instructional technology.
- Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that supports the diverse needs of students, faculty, staff, and the public.
- National Certification in School Psychology (NCSP).
- Psychology licensure or license eligibility in Washington State.
- Experience working with school districts and in professional settings as a school psychologist.
- PREPaRE Certified Trainer.
- Demonstrated ability to teach in an online format using synchronous and asynchronous components.
- Experience teaching university or college graduate‑level psychology courses.
