Open Rank Assistant, Associate or Full Professor – Physical Therapy
Eastern Washington University invites applications for a full‑time, nine‑month, tenure‑track faculty appointment in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program. The position begins August 16, 2026 and will be held at the Spokane campus.
Responsibilities- Teach doctoral‑level courses and advise DPT students in a student‑centered environment.
- Engage in research and scholarship activities and develop a Faculty Activity Plan by the end of the first semester.
- Serve the university, community, and profession through service activities.
- Maintain current, valid licensure for physical therapy.
- State of Washington PT license eligible.
- Earned academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DSc, DHSc, or equivalent) from a regionally accredited institution; ABD candidates will not be considered.
- Current membership in the American Physical Therapy Association.
- Minimum 3 years of clinical practice as a physical therapist.
- Experience teaching higher education; preferred interest in teaching core DPT subjects such as integumentary, cardiovascular and pulmonary systems, lifespan development, and introductory examination and intervention skills.
- For Associate & Full Professor: 6+ years (Associate) or 10+ years (Full) as a core faculty member in a CAPTE‑accredited entry‑level DPT program; demonstrated research agenda; board certification or residency/fellowship training; program administration or leadership experience; participation in CAPTE reaccreditation; professional service at the state or national level.
- Proficiency with classroom technology.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated inclusive teaching practices supporting universal access for students, faculty, staff, and the public.
- Record of scholarship (publications, presentations, grant funding) that identifies a cogent research line.
- Cover Letter – describe how you meet the required and preferred qualifications.
- Curriculum Vitae.
- List of Professional References (at least three).
- Statement of Teaching Philosophy.
- Mission Statement Response – explain how you will contribute to EWU’s mission of inclusive, equitable, and transformative learning.
