Job Summary

The College of Health Science & Public Health at Eastern Washington University is seeking a tenure‑track faculty member (Assistant or Associate Professor) for the School of Nursing. The appointment will be for the Fall Semester of the 2025‑2026 academic year and will continue as a nine‑month academic year appointment. Faculty report to the School of Nursing director and are full‑time, tenure‑track, responsible for teaching, research, service, and community outreach.

Faculty will teach theory and clinical courses, mentor student research, serve on committees, conduct research for publication and grant acquisition, and demonstrate teaching excellence and professional growth. All faculty are expected to actively participate in assessment of student learning and engage in effective teaching.

Responsibilities

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Teach Nursing courses in classroom, clinical, laboratory, and simulated learning environments using a concept‑based approach.
  • Meet all scheduled classes.
  • Plan, organize, and inform students of course content, texts, readings, assignments, attendance regulations, and methods of evaluation including grading scales.
  • Schedule and attend office hours.
  • Turn in grades according to established deadlines.
  • Engage in effective teaching and assessment of student learning.

Research, Service, and Administrative Duties

  • Develop a Faculty Activity Plan (FAP) by the end of the first semester, combining teaching, research, service, and release time as negotiated.
  • Typical workload: 24 credits per academic year (80% of the workload), subject to department needs.
  • Participate in assessment of student learning and institutional service activities.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in nursing.
  • Terminal degree in nursing or a health or education related field at the time of appointment.
  • Unencumbered Washington Registered Nurse license, or eligibility for licensure.
  • Current healthcare provider CPR certification.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and identities.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach supportive of the needs, including universal access for students, faculty, staff, and the public.

Additional qualification to be considered for Associate Professor Rank

  • Six or more years of successful professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five or more years recent clinical experience.
  • One or more years of prior experience teaching in a clinical, laboratory, or simulated learning environment.
  • Experience working with Canvas or another learning management system.
