Job PurposeThe Kinesiology and Sport Management Department in the School of Education at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, is seeking an American Red Cross CPR/First Aid Instructor to teach a 1-credit undergraduate course that certifies students in Adult and Pediatric CPR, First Aid and AED use.

Essential Functions- Teach Red Cross–approved CPR, AED, and First Aid curriculum in accordance with American Red Cross Instructor standards and Gonzaga University academic expectations.
- Evaluate student performance through skills assessments and written evaluations following Red Cross certification protocols.
- Administer and process American Red Cross certification materials through the Red Cross Learning Center.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback and submit grades in alignment with Gonzaga’s academic policies.
- Current American Red Cross Instructor Certification.
- Availability to teach on specific weekends in the Spring semester:
Section 1 – Saturday and Sunday, February 28-March 1, 2026;
Section 2 – March 28-29, 2026. Course hours: 8:30 am – 4:30 pm on Saturdays; 10:00 am – 4:00 pm on Sundays.
- Prior teaching or training experience, ideally in a higher‑education environment.
- Experience in Canvas.
- Additional Red Cross instructor credentials (e.g., CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, Basic Life Support).
Bachelor’s Degree.
Physical & On‑Campus Requirements- In‑Office Presence: Ability to work on‑site; 2 days/week.
- Standing/Sitting: Often (50%-75% of time).
- Walking: Often (50%-75% of time).
- Lifting/Carrying: Rarely (1%-49% of time).
- Attention to Detail: Daily (>75% of time).
- Problem‑Solving: Daily (>75% of time).
- Cover letter addressing which courses the candidate is qualified to teach with rationale.
