Salary: $20.05–$23.34 per hour (base) plus $1.50 per hour for student behavior de‑escalation. Additional benefits available.
Hours:
6.75 days per week, 191 days per year.
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 7:15 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (hours may vary depending on district needs).
Reports to:
Principal and Program Director or designee.
- Assist the special education teacher in implementing, organizing, and preparing the classroom program and materials.
- Provide instruction to students with special needs as assigned and supervised by the special education teacher.
- Assist the teacher with record‑keeping tasks.
- Maintain the safety and well‑being of students.
- Work daily with students according to scheduled times.
- Facilitate and complete learning experiences designated by the teacher.
- Assist and support building staff in implementing classroom interventions.
- Utilize district software programs, including Skyward, Word, Excel, and SMI.
- Maintain appropriate student records and other records as directed.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- All para educators must have completed the ETS Praxis exam, obtained an AA degree, earned 72 quarter/48 semester credits, or completed a registered apprenticeship program—documentation required at application time.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age 21 years.
- Current First Aid/CPR card.
- Proof of immunization if born on or after 1/1/1957.
- Base pay range: $20.05–$23.34 per hour.
- Additional $1.50 per hour for student behavior de‑escalation.
