Aviation Maintenance Instructor - Adjunct - Spokane Community College

Spokane Community College, part of Spokane Colleges, serves 15,000 students with career technical, liberal arts, and adult education programs in Spokane and surrounding rural communities.

The starting salary for this position is $40.83 - $86.87 per hour based on workload category. This is an adjunct (part-time) position. Compensation will be pro-rated according to the amount of workload assigned.

About the Aviation Maintenance Instructor - Adjunct - Spokane Community College

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Team teach with Aviation Maintenance instructors
  • Prepare and teach basic skills through contextualization in the Aviation Maintenance content areas
  • Plan classroom management, attendance policies, homework, and test policies with co-teacher
  • Provide syllabus for class
  • Follow up with students when absent
  • Provide timely feedback and support to students
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Proctor CASAS and/or other required assessments
  • Complete required ABE paperwork

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic certificates
  • Reciprocating engine ignition systems experience
  • Reciprocating engine fuel metering systems experience
  • A combination of training and work experience or teaching in Aviation Maintenance
  • Three years of relevant work experience in the field of Aviation Maintenance, or three years of relevant and recent teaching experience in Aviation Maintenance
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters degree from an accredited college or university
  • Knowledge of a learning management system such as CANVAS
  • An earned Associate's degree in Aviation Maintenance or closely related field from an accredited institution
  • Five years of recent experience in Aviation Maintenance
  • Relevant teaching experience
  • Turbine engine fuel systems experience
  • Engine EGT and CHT instruments and related test equipment experience
  • Transport category maintenance experience
  • FAA Inspection Authorization Avionics/electronics experience
  • Private Pilot Certificate

Person hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of U.S. Citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States. This is an absolute condition of employment.
