Guitar Instructor – Adjunct – Spokane Falls Community Colleges

Location:

Spokane Falls Main Campus, Spokane. Department: SFCC Music & Recording Arts.

Open continuous. Starting salary: $40.83 - $86.87 per hour based on workload category.

Part‑time adjunct position; compensation is pro‑rated according to the workload assigned. Spokane Colleges reserves the right to cancel this recruitment without notice. Spokane Falls Community College (SFCC) invites applications for an Adjunct Guitar Instructor (Acoustic and Electric) in the Music & Recording Arts Department. This position includes teaching private guitar lessons to credit and non‑credit students, leading group guitar classes for beginning and intermediate players, and preparing students for end‑of‑quarter juries, recitals, and transfer auditions. Instruction will take place in SFCC’s state‑of‑the‑art Music Building.

We are currently seeking applications for an adjunct (part‑time) guitar instructor to teach private guitar lessons; MUSPL 112/212 (Acoustic Guitar) and MUSPL 115/215 (Electric Guitar), scheduled for Winter Quarter 2026. Each one‑credit course meets on campus once per week for a 30‑minute individual lesson per student.

There may also be opportunities for additional teaching assignments in Class Guitar (MUSC 182) during Spring and/or Fall Quarters 2026, following the initial Winter Quarter appointment.

Spokane Falls Community College, part of Spokane Colleges, serves 6,000 students with liberal arts/transfer and professional technical programs across a 12,302 square mile region in Eastern Washington.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide private guitar instruction (acoustic, classical, and electric) for credit and non‑credit students, encompassing a variety of styles and levels.
  • Prepare for and teach group guitar classes for beginning and intermediate students as needed.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide clear, constructive feedback during lessons and assessments.
  • Assist students in preparing for end‑of‑quarter juries, recitals, ensemble performances, and transfer auditions.
  • Participate in faculty and student recitals as appropriate.
  • Utilize equity‑minded and inclusive practices in course design, syllabi, and instructional delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grading, and student progress in accordance with college policies and deadlines.
  • Comply with state, federal, and institutional regulations applicable to instructional and professional duties.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and community partners to support departmental and institutional goals.
