Starting salary for this position is: $40.83 - $86.87 per hour based on workload category.
This is an adjunct (part-time) position. Compensation will be pro-rated according to the amount of workload assigned. Spokane Colleges reserves the right to cancel this recruitment without notice. Academic employees are represented by the Association of Higher Education (AHE), which is affiliated with NEA and WEA. Membership is optional.

About Us

SFCC is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Adjunct Geology Instructor in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Division. We are currently looking to fill adjunct positions for the 2025‑2026 academic year.

SFCC is one of two accredited community colleges that comprise the Spokane Colleges. SFCC serves approximately 6000 students from across greater Spokane and five rural counties in our service area, including students from the Spokane Tribe, other Eastern Washington tribes, and from Fairchild Air Force Base. About two-thirds of our students enroll in one of our transfer degrees, and approximately one-third enroll in one of our professional‑technical programs.

About the Geology Instructor – Adjunct – Spokane Falls Community College CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepares for and instructs college‑level courses in Geology in face‑to‑face, hybrid or online formats based on need of the department.
  • Provides availability and accessibility to students through a combination of scheduled office hours, e‑mail accessibility or other effective means of responsive and timely communication.
  • Provide timely feedback and support to students.
  • Maintain accurate records for course grades.
  • Communicates expectations and establishes clear grading criteria through appropriate instructional means, to include but not limited to developing course syllabi, handouts, and materials supporting the instructional process; evaluates student progress and provides clear, timely feedback.
  • Complies with state and federal law applicable to professional duties and responsibilities; follows established procedures in areas such as printing, turning in grades, bookstore orders, student safety and health issues and related administrative processes.
  • May participate in department and general faculty meetings whenever germane.
  • Maintain professional standards in interactions with the college community.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • An earned Master’s degree in Geology from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with teaching (e.g. classroom, workshops, training sessions, etc).
  • Acceptance of the responsibility to promote the welfare and best interests of students at all times.
  • A demonstrable understanding and acceptance of the mission, values, goals, objectives and strategic plan of Spokane Colleges.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and goals of the institution, and community and technical college system.
  • Demonstrated competence in working with diverse student populations and an appreciation for diverse voices in the classroom.
