Starting salary for this position: $40.83 – $86.87 per hour, based on workload category. Compensation is pro-rated according to the amount of workload assigned.
Academic employees are represented by the Association of Higher Education (AHE), which is affiliated with NEA and WEA. Membership is optional. Spokane Colleges reserves the right to cancel this recruitment without notice.
Responsibilities- Prepare for and instruct classes in Mathematics. Class modality may be in person, hybrid, or online.
- Provide availability to students through a combination of office hours, e‑mail, and other effective means of responsive and timely communication.
- Communicate expectations and establish clear grading criteria, including but not limited to developing course syllabi, handouts, and materials supporting the instructional process.
- Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback.
- Comply with state and federal law applicable to professional duties and responsibilities; follow established procedures in areas such as printing, turning in grades, student safety and health issues, and related administrative processes.
- Master's degree in Mathematics or Statistics or in a closely related field with graduate‑level Math coursework.
- Experience teaching Mathematics.
- Commitment to fostering and supporting student success.
- Understanding and acceptance of the mission, values, goals, and objectives of SCC.
- The ability to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations, and goals of the institution, community, and technical college system.
- One year of full‑time post‑secondary teaching experience (graduate students are encouraged to apply).
- Experience with non‑STEM algebra or introductory college‑level transfer Mathematics classes.
- Ability to assist students with a wide range of mathematical skills.
