Under the direction and supervision of the principal or designee, this teaching position will substitute for regular district teachers by planning instruction, teaching, motivating, inspiring, and assessing students in the grade/subject assigned.

• Provide clear and intentional focus on subject matter content and curriculum using established content standards and available resources and technology.
• Use effective teaching practices by helping students interact with new knowledge, deepen understanding, and engage in cognitively complex tasks.
• Ask questions, probe incorrect answers, and notice when students are not engaged.
• Foster and manage a safe, positive learning environment and be responsible for constructive classroom management.
• Follow lesson plans and instructional materials as provided.
• Translate lesson plans into learning experiences and use instruction time efficiently.
• Supervise students both in and outside of the classroom during the assigned working day.
• Maintain appropriate student records.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate or substitute certificate.
• Valid Washington State driver's license or evidence of mobility.
• Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint clearance.
• Completion of all district-required training within thirty (30) calendar days from the hire date.
• I‑9 for verification of identity and employment eligibility for work in the United States.

• Demonstrate value and respect for all students, including typically underserved students.
• Demonstrate mature behavior and sound judgment when working with students, parents, staff, and the community.
• Make independent decisions and take appropriate action while following established procedures and guidelines.
• Relate positively to students and parents/guardians of varying socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic backgrounds, and abilities.
• Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills with students, staff, administrators, and parents/guardians.
• Training and/or experience integrating technology into planning, teaching, learning, and record‑keeping.

Substitute positions are employed as on‑call positions and paid for hours worked. Verification of identity and United States work authorization must be completed before employment commences. Employment is contingent upon clearance of a background check.
