Parent/Child Educator – Early Head Start – Stevens County

Join EWU School of Business as a Parent/Child Educator (PCE) to provide high‑quality early‑childhood home‑visit services to pregnant women, infants, toddlers, and their families in Stevens County, Washington.

  • Stevens County, Washington (home visits across Stevens, Pend Oreille, Ferry, and Spokane counties)

Salary and Benefits
  • Annual salary: $38,481 – $46,583 (based on qualifications, education, experience, and skills)

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, and document 90‑minute weekly home visits using EWU Early Head Start (EHS) curriculum and materials.
  • Recruit and enroll eligible families, providing at least two socialization experiences per month.
  • Build and maintain respectful, collaborative relationships with parents and families, guiding individualized home‑based developmental and health experiences.
  • Document services accurately and promptly in program systems, complying with federal, state, and university regulations.
  • Participate in supervision, professional development, training, and multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Collaborate with EHS staff, volunteers, community partners, and other providers to deliver the full range of EHS services.
  • Assist families with health, safety, and nutrition advice, including referrals for medical or CPS services when necessary.
  • Maintain data and documentation on each child, follow program deadlines, and communicate proactively regarding health and safety issues.
  • Participate in program meetings, trainings, staffing, and community outreach. Additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum home‑based CDA credential or comparable credential, or equivalent coursework (associate’s or bachelor’s degree).
  • Demonstrated competency in planning and implementing home‑based learning experiences that promote child progress across the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework.
  • Ability to build culturally responsive, trusting relationships with families.
  • Experience in training, mentoring, and teamwork.
  • Trauma‑informed approach with staff and families.
  • Eligibility to pass all required health, background, and safety checks.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, or a related field.
  • Team‑building and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, SharePoint) and other technology tools.
Other Requirements
  • Infant/Toddler CPR and First Aid Certificate within 30 days of hire.
  • TB Test, Staff Health Exam, and Food Handler’s Permit within required time frames.
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License and private insurance; personal vehicle required for local travel.
  • Three personal and three professional references; criminal background declarations; FBI and state background checks as specified.
  • Compliance with EWU Immunization Policy 602‑02 (MMR proof or medical/external waiver).
