Job PurposeThe Department of Nursing seeks adjunct clinical faculty to provide clinical instruction and supervision to BSN students. Clinical faculty may also mentor clinical staff in community partner facilities who work directly with BSN students. The successful candidate will bring enthusiasm, clinical presence, and practical expertise to engage students in active learning and assessment, and will be committed to teaching excellence and an inclusive learning environment.
Ideal candidates have experience teaching and mentoring graduate students of diverse backgrounds, including those traditionally underrepresented in nursing. - Coordinate medical-surgical clinical practicum experience for BSN students.
- Collaborate with the Lead Faculty and Nurse Manager to assure a quality clinical practicum experience.
- Teach up to 16 hours per week, available Wednesday through Friday and occasionally Saturday.
- Participate with other course faculty in a 2-hour weekly clinical conference.
- Grade required coursework and provide formative student evaluations/feedback.
- Complete student’s final clinical evaluation and keep Lead Faculty informed of any concerns regarding student progression or clinical performance.
- Mentor clinical staff in the Designated Education Unit who work directly with BSN students in their role as clinical instructors/mentors.
- Serve as ambassador for Gonzaga University School of Health Sciences.
- Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.
- Minimum of 3 years of current experience in medical-surgical and/or oncology nursing.
- Unencumbered Washington state RN license.
- Master of Science degree in nursing.
- Previous clinical teaching experience.
