Overview
The School of Business at Whitworth University invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Instructor or Assistant Professor of Finance. Experienced candidates with exceptional backgrounds will be eligible for the Kenneth Roberts Endowed Professorship in Finance and Accounting.
The Whitworth School of Business (WSB) is accredited by the AACSB and is committed to providing students with an outstanding business education. The undergraduate degree program is one of the largest on campus, with a significant portion of students majoring in business. The school offers traditional undergraduate programs with concentrations in accounting, economics, finance, management, and marketing, as well as an undergraduate degree completion program in organizational management.
The graduate program offers an MBA, MBL, and MSFP, and faculty are expected to teach in these programs.
Application review will begin on November 1, 2025. The WSB has a growing focus in finance and seeks a candidate who can further strengthen financial education and applied finance. Possible courses include corporate finance, derivatives, financial statement analysis, advanced financial statement analysis, and financial management. The faculty member will also advise the Whitworth Student Investment Group (WSIG) and the CFA team.
EndowedProfessorship
Endowed professorship details are provided for Kenneth Roberts ’68, including research support, a stipend, and reassigned time. The appointment will be for experienced and exceptional candidates with strong research, teaching, and service records for finance and accounting.
Responsibilities- Teach courses in finance as assigned (including potential courses listed above).
- Advise the Whitworth Student Investment Group (WSIG) and the CFA team, and mentor students in the club.
- Engage in departmental service, participate in governance, attend faculty assemblies, development days and retreats, and serve on committees.
- A Ph.D. or DBA in finance, financial economics, or a related field (ABDs will be considered). Master’s degree holders willing to pursue a doctoral degree are encouraged to apply. Whitworth may support doctoral education through a loan program.
- Evidence of promise in college-level teaching; demonstrated effectiveness preferred.
- Experience with, or interest in, interactive learning, simulations, and case analysis.
- A personal commitment to the Christian faith and to the integration of faith and learning.
- Strong potential for ongoing research in finance and a plan to publish in quality journals.

Salary information (illustrative ranges):
Instructor or Assistant Professor of Finance
Term: 9 months;
Rank:
Instructor;
Hiring range: $93,000 to $98,000
Rank:
Assistant Professor;
Hiring range: $114,000 to $120,000;
Commensurate with years of credited service. 1.75% increase to the minimum salary per year of credited service at the rank of assistant professor.
