Overview
Coffman Engineers is seeking an Entry-Level Bridge Engineer for employment in our Spokane office. Our primary marketplace is Washington, Oregon, and Idaho with other potential opportunities across the United States. The successful candidate will be independent, self-motivated, energetic, and a team player who is looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity within a dynamic and progressive firm.
This position will assist in managing, designing, and detailing bridge projects of a variety of sizes and complexities. The candidate will have the ability to network with clients from private, local, state, and federal agencies.
The work is predominantly office-based. Some field work may be required at times, in environments with safety procedures and equipment, including working at heights, confined spaces, near highway traffic, and on aerial lift platforms.
Responsibilities- Assist in managing, designing, and detailing bridge projects of varying sizes and complexities.
- Network with clients across private, local, state, and federal agencies.
- Collaborate within a multi-discipline design team to deliver bridge projects.
- Maintain safety procedures and work in field environments as needed.
- A four-year degree in Civil/Structural Engineering with an emphasis in bridge engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited university
- Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering preferred
- Registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT)
- 0-3 years of experience
- Internship in the structural design of bridges and/or buildings and similar structures preferred
- Completed structural/bridge engineering coursework (preferred):
Prestressed Design, Reinforced Concrete Design, Steel Design, Structural Dynamics or Earthquake Engineering, Foundation Design, Timber Design - Experience with AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications and DOT bridge design/standards (preferred)
- Experience with computer analysis software systems including AutoCAD, PGSuper, Risa 3D, MathCAD, and Bluebeam Revu (preferred)
- Experience working as part of a multi-discipline design team (preferred)
- Excellent leadership, supervisory, and writing and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated and eager to learn
Expected annual salary of $70,000-$81,000.
