Base Pay Range

$/yr – $/yr

This job opportunity is available at any location in the United States. Ideally, selected candidates will be near a Jacobs U.S. based office, but we intend to hire the “best” candidates.

Responsibilities
  • Work on various projects as assigned by a department manager or lead engineer throughout the entire design process.
  • Provide technical design leadership of systems for data center buildings including structured cabling systems, wireless, audio‑visual, and other low‑voltage systems.
  • Lead BIM designers in the preparation of engineering drawings.
  • Create or modify DIV 27 specifications.
  • Conduct site visits and review technical documents.
  • Sign and seal telecommunications design packages.
  • Mentor other team members.
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify processes to make the department run more efficiently.
  • Depending on bandwidth, lead projects as needed.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time.
Qualifications
  • Electrical Engineering or Communication Engineering bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited college.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience actively designing or leading designs for telecommunications structured cabling systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of ANSI/TIA and BICSI standards.
  • Thorough knowledge of NFPA 70 and its application to telecommunications structured cabling systems.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam.
  • Self‑motivation to coordinate with other disciplines, project managers and clients.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Familiarity with responding to RFPs.
  • Experience providing quality assurance and checking of telecommunications systems designed by others.
  • Experience with start‑up and commissioning of telecommunications systems.
  • Experience creating and maintaining a project budget and schedule.
  • Experience identifying and mitigating company risk.
  • PE license and ability to obtain multiple PE licenses is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4 years telecommunications design experience in data centers.
  • Experience working on other low‑voltage systems such as security, audio/visual, and wireless.
  • Working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks.
  • Knowledge of telecom infrastructure for controls systems and security systems.
  • Knowledge of CSI or AIA specification writing procedures.
  • Credential as an RCDD.
