As part of HDR’s Power sector, we help shape how electricity is generated, transmitted, and delivered to meet the growing global energy demands. In this role, you’ll be a Power Engineer working on hydropower generation projects, collaborating with a team of engineers and professionals to deliver reliable, resilient, and sustainable power systems.
Responsibilities- Coordinate the work of the power design team through the schematic design development and contract document phase of a project.
- Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
- Coordinate workload to complete deliverables on schedule.
- Conduct work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
- Review project documents for areas of conflict with other disciplines.
- Write and edit project specifications.
- Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, requests for information (RFIs), change orders (COs), and incorporate agreed‑upon changes into the project documents.
- Provide construction contract administration as needed.
- Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Engineers, Project Coordinators or Designers, or BIM Technicians as needed.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Master’s degree in Engineering.
- 6+ years of detailed electrical design experience.
- Previous experience with an engineering consulting firm and hydropower generation.
- Experience with data analysis software relevant to electrical engineering.
- Proficiency with SKM Power Tools for Windows, Easy Power, MATLAB, and Visual Basic.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
- Previous experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software (e.g., PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Auto Pipe, Revit).
