Overview
Everhealth is partnering with a correctional health service to hire an LPN or LVN to join our team of medical professionals in Spokane, WA. The role involves managing all aspects of healthcare for individuals currently incarcerated in the Spokane County Jail. As a Correctional Nurse, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to residents in a controlled, high‑security environment.
Duties include performing physical assessments, administering medications, managing chronic illnesses, responding to emergencies, and engaging in a dynamic workday. New graduates are encouraged to apply – we’ll train you in the exciting field of correctional healthcare!
- Perform patient assessments, interview patients about current health problems and medication history
- Take vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and weight
- Provide wound care, including cleaning and bandaging injured areas
- Administer medications, including injections, and monitor reactions
- Maintain medical records, entering information into the electronic health record, Tech Care
- Observe patient health and mental health status
- Provide emergency first aid
- Offer patient education and discharge/release planning
- Graduate from an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Actively state‑certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
- Possess an active CPR certification
- Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
- Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Display integrity, professionalism and adhere to a Code of Conduct and all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
Must be able to stand for long periods, lift and move patients up to 50 pounds, bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks such as CPR while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
