ASC CLINICAL PRE-OP & PACU SUPERVISOR:

Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists is looking for an ASC Clinical Pre-op & PACU Supervisor to lead our growing Ambulatory Surgery Center.

GENERAL

SUMMARY:

The Pre-op/PACU Supervisor is responsible for the daily clinical and operational management of the Preoperative and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) departments. This position ensures safe, efficient, patient-centered care throughout the perioperative experience while maintaining compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.

The supervisor provides leadership, staff development, scheduling, quality improvement, and oversight of clinical practice to ensure exceptional patient outcomes and efficient patient flow. This role collaborates closely with physicians, anesthesia providers, charge nurses, clinical staff, non-clinical staff, operating room staff, and administrative leadership

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • It is the expectation of all NWOS employees to demonstrate, uphold and educate staff on all 19 NWOS Fundamentals.
  • Supervises daily operations of the Pre-op and PACU departments.
  • Coordinates patient flow from admission through discharge.
  • Serves as a clinical resource for nursing staff.
  • Assists with direct patient care as needed.
  • Ensures appropriate staffing levels based on daily surgical volume and patient acuity.
  • Assists with management of emergency situations.
  • Ensures compliance with infection prevention and patient safety standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

PATIENT CARE:

Ensures high-quality nursing care throughout the perioperative experience, including:

  • Preoperative assessments
  • Verification of informed consent
  • Surgical site verification
  • Pain management
  • Recovery from anesthesia
  • Patient and family discharge education

Monitors compliance with:

  • Universal Protocol
  • Time Out processes
  • Fall prevention
  • Safe medication administration
  • Moderate sedation recovery standards
  • Infection prevention practices

QUALITY AND REGUALTORY GUIDANCE:

Participates in the ASC Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program by:

  • Monitoring clinical quality indicators
  • Monitoring recovery times
  • Implementing quality improvement initiatives

Ensures compliance and ongoing readiness with:

  • CMS Conditions for Coverage
  • AAAHC Accreditation Standards
  • OSHA
  • HIPAA
  • ASC policies and procedures

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The ASC Clinical Pre-op & PACU Supervisor will oversee the supervision of clinical staff, including Registered Nurses and Medical Assistants. This position will be responsible for setting goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with company's plans and vision. Organizing workflow and ensuring that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks. Monitoring employee productivity and providing constructive feedback and coaching.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • Minimum three years of perioperative nursing experience
  • Minimum two years of leadership or charge nurse experience

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, providers, coworkers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while fostering positive working relationships across departments.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain professionalism, and appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, workflows, technology, and organizational needs in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Proficiency with computers, electronic health records, and job-related software applications.
  • Ability to identify problems, analyze information, and develop practical solutions to support patient care and operational objectives. .
  • Demonstrates integrity, accountability, leadership, and commitment to the organization's mission, values, and performance expectations.
