Quality Inspector - Electromechanical - 1 day a week

SQA Services, Inc. has spent almost 30 years delivering managed supplier quality services, including audits, corrective actions, inspections, and engineering support to manufacturers across all industries. We are looking for a dedicated, highly skilled Mechanical Inspector Level 2 to support source inspections at multiple supplier locations near Tacoma, WA.

The role involves on‑site work one day per week (8 hours a day) as part of a 12‑month contract. Pay is based on skill and experience, with a base range of $32.00/hr – $36.00/hr
. Mileage compensation is $0.70 per mile driven.

• Conduct visual, physical, and dimensional inspections (in‑process and final) of parts according to project specifications.
• Perform incoming inspections from external providers (e.g., nickel plating).
• Carry out in‑process and final inspections of critical features, including witness inspections such as CMM program runs.
• Compile final inspection sign‑off sheets and inspection packages.
• Verify that inspection equipment can detect defects and that methodology aligns with drawing intent.
• Review and validate justification for parts not inspected at final inspection.
• Audit and validate execution of inspection plans as applicable.
• Document non‑conformances and submit non‑conformance reports for customer disposition.
• Verify hardware cleanliness and absence of internal or external foreign object debris.
• Verify that fasteners are properly installed; ensure torque stripe is continuous and correctly colored.
• Ensure products are free of gaps, mismatches, fairing, and exhibit acceptable contour and waviness.
• Assess workmanship quality, meeting specified standards for issues such as oil canning, riding conditions, loose fasteners, drill starts, scratches, dings, burrs, and fastener edge distance.
• Review and validate First Article Inspection (FAI) documentation for completeness, traceability, and compliance.
• Protect and preserve inspected products for subsequent processing and shipment.
• Verify shipping documentation for legibility and completeness, including part number, serial number, configuration change letter, and shipping destination.

• Extensive experience as a Quality Inspector or CMM Operator with industry‑specific expertise.
• Proficiency in dimensional inspection of precision tolerance parts.
• Strong knowledge of, and hands‑on experience with, all inspection tools.
• Ability to understand and interpret complex GD&T requirements and validate complex assemblies.
• Experience with multiple primary and secondary part numbers.
• Compliance with U.S. Government export regulations: U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State (ITAR).

• Certified in GD&T (ASME Y‑14.5) or equivalent.
• 5 years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 2 years as a Mechanical Inspector.

Note: This position requires access to ITAR‑controlled technical data and/or defense articles. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents; those who do not meet these criteria will not be considered.
