About the Role
ACME Concrete Paving is seeking a highly skilled Corporate Quality Control Manager to lead our enterprise-level QC program across multiple heavy civil concrete paving projects, including FAA airfield paving, DOT highway work, and major municipal/DoD infrastructure. This role establishes corporate standards, supports project teams, and ensures full compliance with FAA, WSDOT specifications, USACE QC/QA frameworks, and ACME’s internal quality systems. The Corporate QC Manager will be the company’s technical authority on concrete materials, mix design compliance, testing/inspection requirements, and quality risk management.
Key Responsibilities- Corporate-Level Quality Leadership:
Develop, implement, and continually improve ACME’s company wide Quality Management System. - Standardize QC procedures, ITPs, checklists, and documentation across all projects.
- Maintain ACME’s mix design library, ensuring compliance with FAA, DOT, and USACE standards.
- Lead internal audits of QC performance and provide corrective action plans.
- Project Support & Oversight:
Support Project QC Managers, paving foremen, and field engineers in understanding and executing spec requirements. - Provide preconstruction QC input: spec reviews, risk identification, test section planning, and submittal strategies.
- Review all QC submittals, including mix designs, material certifications, and QCP development.
- Oversee test section planning and execution across multiple jobsites.
- Risk Management & Technical Problem Solving:
Analyze non-conformance trends and lead root-cause investigations. - Serve as technical advisor for complex quality disputes and government/Engineer negotiations.
- Coordinate third-party labs, independent assurance testing, and calibration requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of FAA specs, USACE QCS requirements, and emerging industry standards.
- Training & Team Development:
Train field QC staff, technicians, and engineers on testing procedures, field sampling, compaction, slipform paving tolerances, and documentation best practices. - Recruit, develop, and mentor project-level QC personnel.
- Lead annual quality training for all operations employees.
- 5 years QC or QA experience in heavy civil construction, preferably airfields or highway concrete paving.
- Strong working knowledge of FAA P-501, USACE specs, and DOT materials/testing standards.
- Ability to lead and manage multiple QC programs simultaneously.
- Proficiency in reading plans/specs, preparing QC plans, and managing NCR/CAR processes.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- ACI Certifications (at least one required; multiple preferred): ACI Field Tech Grade I, ACI Concrete Strength Testing Tech, ACI Concrete Transportation Inspector, ACI Concrete Construction Special Inspector.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel.
- Experience with government acceptance processes.
- Familiarity with concrete paving systems, dowel embedment tolerances, and slipform operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with QCS, E Ticketing, and digital QC systems.
- Prior corporate-level or multi-project QC leadership experience.
