Job SummaryThe primary function of the Truck Sales Representative is to solicit and assist customers in the ordering and purchasing of trucks.
Earn $70k + per year!!
Duties and Responsibilities- Solicit sales of new and used trucks marketed by the Company to customers located within assigned territories, maintaining market penetration and territory calls as required by New/Used Truck Sales Managers.
- Assist the customer in identifying what model and componentry will suit their needs, coordinating with Truck Sales Manager on all truck sales.
- Create and submit a written proposal for new truck sales identifying model, componentry specification, build schedule and cost to the customer for acceptance; coordinate all such bids with Truck Sales Managers.
- Complete all necessary paperwork for submission of new truck orders to manufacturer, coordinating with Sales Coordinator and Sales Point for inventory movement.
- Assist Finance & Insurance department in completing all paperwork needed to close the sale, including payment documentation, licensing and titling; coordinate closing with Finance Manager and proactively market internal F&I offerings as part of all new and used sales deals.
- Assist customers with any problems that may arise in connection with the sale of equipment, directing inquiries to the correct personnel and following up to ensure completion.
- Maintain courteous and continuing relations with the customer base, working knowledge of customers’ industries and equipment needs, and proactively maintain a territory call route that includes follow‑up, cold calls and prospecting of new customers.
- Promote the sale of Company parts and service, and facilitate communications between customers and other departments.
- Maintain a superior level of knowledge and expertise in the trucking industry and Kenworth trucks; attend off‑site training courses and seminars as required, and keep current on all online OEM training paths.
- Help maintain the company website and advertising with current inventory.
- Communicate with Receptionist and branch department managers about whereabouts.
- Work day starts and ends physically present at the Dealership from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; occasional after‑hours and Saturdays may be required when appointments have been set.
- Submit PTO through Ultipro HR management system prior to taking days off.
- Maintain all trucks on branch lot, including occasional start‑up and inspection of appearance and condition, and coordinate required repairs and improvements with New/Used truck sales managers.
Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information, high school diploma or equivalent; broad knowledge of all types of new and used Class 7 and 8 trucks and their components; familiarity with the trucking industry, computer systems, current software and large databases; prior successful sales experience in truck sales or a similar industry; valid Commercial Driver’s License preferred and a good driving record required;
professional personal appearance; excellent communication and supervisory skills.
This position involves both sedentary and physically demanding work. The Representative works indoors and out, climbs stairs, stands, stoops, kneels, crouches, and reaches while moving about the dealership facility. Extensive desk time reviewing detailed printouts and data entry is required. The role also requires traveling to customer locations, which may involve overnight stays and extensive driving. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
