We are hiring adjunct faculty to teach SCTY 400 – Aviation Security in person at our Spokane, WA campus.

Course Description

Investigation into specific facets of aviation security including physical and procedural controls, regulations of the Department of Homeland Security, Transportation Security Administration, Federal Aviation Administration, ICAO, and international treaties. Topics cover current threats, counter‑terrorism measures, emerging technologies, and the importance of aviation—both passenger and cargo—to the global economy.

Note: ERAU policy requires that all adjuncts be physically located within the United States while working for the University, including during training. We can support work from all U.S. states except California. ERAU does not support work from international locations, with limited exceptions for individuals residing and working from U.S. military bases.

Required documentation: Official transcripts, copies of professional licenses/certifications, documentation of military experience, and/or verified professional industry‑related experience.

  • Doctor’s or Master’s degree in a teaching discipline, or a Master’s degree with a concentration in teaching discipline (minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline).

  • Relevant experience and training in aviation/aerospace security, intelligence, homeland security, law enforcement, or a legal environment.
  • Positions such as intelligence officer, police officer, police chief, security officer, security director/chief, special agent, special agent in charge, airport security coordinator, airline/airport security manager, airport executive, or manager.
