Maintenance Worker I – City of Spokane Valley
Join the City of Spokane Valley as a full‑time Maintenance Worker I. You will be responsible for the smooth operation of city facilities, ensuring compliance with safety and security standards, and providing superior service to both internal and external customers.
Selected Duties- Perform building maintenance and repair, including carpentry, plumbing, heating/air conditioning, and electrical work.
- Conduct groundskeeping activities and coordinate with contractors.
- Ensure safe interior and exterior conditions of buildings.
- Be the staff person on site overseeing facility use during public events.
- Work night and weekend shifts as assigned.
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Three to five (5) years of experience in building maintenance or a closely related field.
- 5+ years experience preferred.
- Heating Mechanics I license highly desired.
- Valid Washington state driver’s license.
- Successful background check, criminal check, and pre‑employment physical.
- Knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods, and procedures used in maintenance and repair.
- Skill in operating various tools and equipment.
- Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the public.
- Good customer service orientation.
Grade 11 – $23.50 to $35.57 per hour (FLSA non‑exempt).
