The Aquatics Program seeks friendly and motivated team members to serve the community. The Head Lifeguard will be responsible for ensuring the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies, mentoring, training, and supporting other lifeguards, attending management meetings, staff training, and performing additional duties as assigned. The candidate must maintain current lifeguarding certification and ensure all lifeguards are competent in water rescue procedures.
SchedulePart‑time up to 40 hours per week. Seasonal period typically runs June through August, with training beginning mid‑May.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as a lifeguard.
- Ensure the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to all emergencies.
- Mentor, train, and support lifeguards.
- Attend and participate in management and staff trainings.
- Assist with pool chemical tests.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
- Must be at least 17 years of age at the time of appointment.
- Possess a valid government‑issued Social Security injured card.
- Required to submit to background check and drug test.
- Thorough knowledge and application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
- Understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies, and procedures.
- Desire to mentor and train fellow staff to achieve a high standard of professionalism and safety.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and accommodate unforeseen events.
- Excellent communication, decision‑making, and customer‑service skills.
- Willingness to build effective relationships with staff and pool patrons.
- Background in aquatic programs such as swim lessons is encouraged.
- Stamina to stand for long periods of time.
This role is considered safety‑sensitive. Applicants must complete a selection process that includes interviews, a criminal background check, a pre‑employment drug screen, reference verifications, aptitude tests (for some positions), and a physical and lift test (for some positions).
