Position: Kids Zone Attendant - Hernando County

Location:

YMCA of the Suncoast, Hernando County

Rate of pay: $14.00/hr - $14.10/hr

Shift: Shifts vary. Required to work weekends.

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for direct supervision of children and implementing planned activities.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum 16 years of age. Must work well with children and have a good understanding of YMCA values. Within 90 days of hire: CPR, AED, First Aid certification, and completion of Intro to the Y’s Cause & Culture, Y’s Way to Service & Engagement, I Hear You:
Service with CARE, Kids Zone University, Preventing Sexual Abuse Between Young Children, Principles of Youth Development, Youth Relationships:
Creating Positive Interactions, and Youth Affirms:
Distinguishing Between Praise and Encouragement trainings. Within 6 months:
Introduction to S.A.F.E, Foundations of Listen First, and Engaging with Families trainings. Get SMART preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS OR EQUIPMENT REQUIRED

Must have character above reproach, maturity, and ability to relate to children from all social/economic segments. Must possess effective communication and organizational skills.

PHYSICAL AND/OR MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

May be required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and maintain physical endurance in all weather conditions. Must be alert at all times and have acceptable hearing and visual capabilities.

JOB DUTIES
  • Takes responsibility for the leadership and guidance of children.
  • Acquaints children with rules, activities, daily schedules and area.
  • Takes responsibility for the safety/welfare of each child including attendance.
  • Reports all accidents to the Supervisor and completes proper health log and/or incident form.
  • Plans, organizes, and implements activity plans for special interest activities.
  • Creates a nurturing and safe environment; reports suspicious activity that may lead to child abuse or violate the code of conduct.
  • Maintains supplies, keeps the facility clean, cares for equipment, and ensures good working conditions.
  • Role models SMART behavior.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
