Job Description - Surgical Tech First Assist- OR (250003J2)

A Surgical Tech First Assist will support the surgical team in delivering high-quality patient care in the operating room, assisting surgeons and other healthcare professionals in a variety of surgical procedures. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

• Assist the surgeon during surgical procedures by providing first assist support, including suturing, clamping, and cauterizing as directed.
• Prepare and maintain a sterile field, ensuring all instruments, supplies, and equipment are ready and functioning before and during surgery.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team by organizing and managing instruments and supplies efficiently.
• Perform routine maintenance and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and optimal surgical outcomes.
• Monitor patient status and report any changes to the surgical team.
• Assist with the positioning and preparation of patients for surgery, including draping and securing the surgical site.
• Participate in preoperative and postoperative care as required.
• Adhere to all safety protocols, infection control measures, and regulatory guidelines.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding surgical procedures and care.

• Technical Program Certified Surgical First Assistant (CFSA)
• Technical Program Surgical Technologist Program (CST)

• Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• Certified Surgical First Assistant (CFSA) Certification through Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP)
• Certified Surgical First Assistant (CFSA) Certification through Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES)

Two (2) years surgical technician experience.
