Role Responsibilities and Focus Areas
Senior Athletic Performance Development Coaching
- Attend all Senior Athletic Performance Development Sessions.
- Provide coaching assistance and support to the BGS Athletic Performance Development Team in delivering gym/ field-based sessions.
- Lead, and model, the enthusiasm and culture required to motivate senior students to progress from the formative stages in their athletic development journey toward various aspects of senior performance.
- Regularly liaise with key stakeholders to accomplish clear KPI’s for both the general and sport-based students.
- Provide season reviews to heads of programs and senior coaching staff at flagship level including all data presentation and relevant initiatives.
- Liaise with colleagues and work collaboratively to improve programming and delivery across multiple physical domains in conjunction with the BGS LTAD model.
- Provide support to the Athletic Performance Development –Rehabilitation Specialist as required.
- Design and implement all facets of athletic performance development for assigned flagship sports.
- Provide matchday support to flagship teams (as required), in liaison with the Head of Athletic Performance Development.
Leadership, Professional Administration and Community Engagement
- Participate in presenting at various opportunities within the school community including parent information evenings, school assemblies, year group meetings, and sport season launches.
- Communicate with key stakeholders regarding individual student performance.
- Regularly promote attendance and track student engagement across all FAD/ AD Initiatives. Overview to be sent to Heads of Program, and Head of Athletic Performance Development weekly.
- Collaborate with Head of Athletic Performance Development, to deliver positive outcomes to all key stakeholders within the broader school community, as well as map key improvement and development initiatives.
- Be the main point of communication for parents/ students from Year 5 to 10 with all athletic performance development related initiatives.
- Strategize, develop and operationalize regular, targeted marketing initiatives to attract Year 7-10 students into regular attendance at both FAD/ AD. This includes supplementary initiatives such as the annual inter-wing obstacle course, and year based strong man competitions.
- Communicate with BGS marketing and communications teams to encapsulate specific events.
- Name, award, photograph and arrange the trophies/ honor board for the termly gym champs, annual strongman, and obstacle course recipients.
- Design, coach, and communicate holiday-based initiatives that optimize engagement and athleticism in conjunction with other Athletic Performance Development staff.
Foundations of Athletic Performance Development - Programming and Delivery
- Participating in Yrs 5 and 6 sport coaching all aspects of physical literacy in alignment with the BGS LTAD model.
- Develop, staff and promote the FAD Program (Yrs 7 and
8) involving a combination of strength training, speed/ agility, and game-based conditioning. - Lead, promote and coach the AD Program (Yrs 9 and 10) and work collaboratively to develop progressive, periodized, and physical development programs.
- Lead, and model, the enthusiasm and culture required to motivate younger students to engage in athletic development.
- Organize and lead the annual physical benchmark testing for all HPE cohorts Yrs. 7-10 in conjunction with the APD team and relevant teaching staff.
EXPECTED QUALIFICATION AND
SKILLS:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Exercise or Sport Science.
- Current Blue Card
- Proven expertise in the development and delivery of strength and conditioning programs to enhance the multi-sport athlete.
- Proven expertise in successfully coaching children to adolescent boys from years 5-10.
