Job Description:
As a Continuous Improvement Engineer, the candidate will be a hands-on, individual-contributor technical resource responsible for delivering measurable improvement to multiple departmental benchmark targets, focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). This is a non-managerial role: the candidate will develop and personally implement improvement projects on the floor, working cross-functionally across Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Safety, and will need to lead and influence outcomes through data, credibility, and relationship-building rather than positional authority.
Candidate must be a self-motivated individual willing to take the initiative to continuously improve operations, roll up their sleeves alongside the teams they support, and be willing to work flexible hours/shift as projects require.
Job Responsibilities:
- Personally develop, scope, and implement continuous improvement projects, working hands-on at the process/equipment level to deliver technical solutions to technical problems.
- Identify, scope, and justify automation and digital-enablement opportunities, and support their hands-on implementation and validation.
- Lead structured problem solving (PDCA, DMAIC, A3, 8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa) to eliminate waste and drive root-cause resolution, guiding cross-functional participants through the process without formal authority over them.
- Build and maintain working relationships with partners outside the work group, including Safety, Quality, Production, and Maintenance, to align priorities and gain buy-in for improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute projects, influencing peers and technical partners (including strategic suppliers) through subject-matter expertise and clear communication rather than direct oversight.
- Track project budgets/forecasts and contribute to cost reduction initiatives through hands-on execution of improvement actions.
- Develop CI roadmaps and tracking tools to support prioritization, benefit validation, and long-term sustainment of improvements.
- Personally implement and standardize improvements, replicate successful changes across similar processes, and update PFMEAs, control plans, and standardized work accordingly.
- Participate in incident investigations and directly implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Support KPI governance (SPQRCE metrics, OEE, scrap, downtime) by maintaining accurate data visibility to inform team decision-making.
- Drive hands-on 6S, visual controls, and workplace organization improvements at the point of work.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in manufacturing engineering, and bring practical ideas back to the floor.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Experience with processing equipment, throughput, and comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes, enabling effective hands-on design and implementation of process improvements.
- In-depth knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement…
