Key Responsibilities- Fabricate, assemble, and repair precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures according to engineering blueprints and specifications.
- Operate and set up a variety of machine shop equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC machines, to produce components with tight tolerances.
- Inspect finished tools and components for accuracy, quality, and adherence to design specifications using precision measuring instruments.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve tooling malfunctions or production issues to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
- Interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, and CAD models to plan and execute tooling projects.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on tooling to ensure longevity and consistent operational efficiency.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Journeyman Tool Maker or in a similar precision machining role.
- Proficiency in operating and setting up manual machining equipment (lathes, mills, surface grinders) and CNC machinery.
- Demonstrated ability to build, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain complex tooling, dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures.
- Strong ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, GD&T, and proficiency with precision measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of various metals, alloys, and heat treatment processes relevant to tool making.
- CNC programming and CAM software experience
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD Inventor)
- Experience with CMM operation and programming
- Jig and fixture design experience
