The Bilingual Pre-Kindergarten Aide is responsible for assisting the teacher in the supervision and instruction of bilingual pre kindergarten students.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications
- HS Diploma from an accredited institution
- Independent School District's NCLB test in the area of Reading, Writing, and Mathematics (Tests are administered after the recommendation for hire) and must obtain an Educational Aide Certification
- Completion of at least two years of study at an institution or higher defined as 48 hours of college coursework
- Must obtain Educational Aide Certification
- Bilingual and able to read, write and speak Spanish proficiently
- 1 yr job related experience
- Ability to work well with children
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to correspond (written and oral) in English and their home language
- Assist teacher in implementing lesson plans.
- Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.
- Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
- Asst teacher with maintenance of classroom equipment, student files and records.
- Assist teacher in conferring with parents and/or appropriate personnel for the purpose of assisting in evaluation of students' progress.
- Assist teacher with translations when needed
- Provide orientation and assistance to the substitute teacher when the Bilingual PK teacher is absent.
- Participate in staff development and faculty meetings as assigned.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
The usual and customary methods of performing this job require the following:
Job may require prolonged periods of time sitting, moderate standing, stooping, bending, reaching and repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer. Ability to maintain emotional control under stress. May require some lifting no more than 10lbs. Overtime is required as necessary.
