AboutThe Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Server Engineer to join their Houston-based infrastructure team. This position will support a large, enterprise-scale server environment. The role focuses on building and maintaining Windows Server and VMware systems, working alongside a seasoned engineering group in Houston and a sister team in Kuala Lumpur.
This position offers the opportunity to work in a highly stable, well-structured environment with exposure to enterprise tooling, global collaboration, and long-term project work.
What You’ll Do- Build and deploy new Windows servers
- Manage and troubleshoot Windows Server, VMware vSphere/ESXi, and Active Directory
- Support existing on-prem server infrastructure
- Participate in a shared on-call rotation (every ~1–1.5 months)
- Contribute to automation efforts and process documentation
- Collaborate with global engineering teams and attend occasional evening meetings
- Windows Server: 2016, 2019, 2022
- VMware 7 (vSphere/ESXi)
- Active Directory + basic GPO knowledge
- Power Shell or similar scripting experience
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Nutanix virtualization
- Linux exposure (small footprint today; growing need in future)
- Solar Winds or similar monitoring tools
- Automation experience (any scripting language)
- Process documentation
- Enterprise/corporate environment experience
- Service Now (can train)
- Broader Linux administrative knowledge
- Work onsite with 5–6 server engineers and 3 network engineers
- Global operations model with a supporting team in Kuala Lumpur
- Team is split into upstream and midstream; this role aligns mostly with upstream
- Strong culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration

Hours:
7 AM–4 PM CT - Evening Meetings:
Occasional (1–2 times/week, 1–2 hours) - On-Call Rotation:
- Every ~1–1.5 months
- One-week rotation; 12-hour shifts (6 AM–6 PM or 5 AM–5 PM during DST)
- On-call is in addition to standard hours; additional time off provided if hours run over
