District Support Pharmacist

Responsibilities

• Live our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
• Travel within the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled; oversee the pharmacy and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts when needed.
• Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and guiding the team to follow safety guardrails at every workstation.
• Assume Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist-on-duty.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, coaching the pharmacy team to do the same, and proactively resolving insurance or medication issues.
• Offer and deliver immunizations and support Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize.
• Assist in the effective management of pharmacy inventory, with emphasis on protecting cold chain products.
• Maintain flexibility for scheduling and business needs while contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic.
• Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, including required trainings and continuing medical education (CMEs); seek opportunities to expand knowledge to better support patients.
• Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical care where permissible (e.g., testing and prescribing services such as COVID/Flu, hormonal contraception), empowering the pharmacy team to provide holistic care.
• Understand and comply with all applicable laws, regulations, professional standards, CVS Health policies, and privacy and security requirements; maintain a safe and inclusive workplace.

Required Qualifications

• Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located.
• Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
• Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.

Essential Functions

• Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as needed.
• Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
• Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe.
• Attention and focus: concentrate on tasks, pivot between tasks to meet patient and business needs, and ensure prescription information and labeling accuracy.
• Customer service and team orientation: actively help people in a friendly manner and respond to patient reactions appropriately.
• Communication skills: interact with patients and colleagues using clear verbal and written communication; practice active listening.
• Mathematical reasoning: determine quantities such as days’ supply and number of bottles needed to fill a prescription.
• Problem resolution: identify challenging interactions and select the best course of action.
• Physical demands: be mobile, lift and move items, reach, and perform repetitive finger tasks; maintain close visual acuity; occasionally lift up to 20 lbs and frequently lift up to 10 lbs.
• Ability to convey detailed information verbally and receive detailed information through oral communication.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1–2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.

Pay Range

$60.00 - $76.00

This pay range represents the base pay for this role. Actual offer depends on experience, education, geography, and other factors. The position may be eligible for CVS Health bonus or incentive programs.
