Townsen Memorial Hospital is seeking a Medical Receptionist to support our patient care mission. The role involves greeting patients, scheduling appointments, completing clerical work, and providing medical procedural support while maintaining professionalism at all times.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Demonstrate customer service standards, greeting each patient and visitor with appropriate body language and eye contact.
- Greet patients as they arrive and provide them with accurate information about the facility.
- Assist patients in completing all necessary forms and documentation.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of patients’ forms and log all demographics in the EMR system.
- Update patients’ information in the database and manage appointment calendars.
- Move patients through appointments as scheduled, notifying providers of patients’ arrival and reminding them of upcoming appointments.
- Answer telephone inquiries, submit faxes and e‑mails, and transfer calls to appropriate medical staff.
- Maintain patient accounts, record personal and financial information, and collect patient charges.
- Manage filing and record‑keeping activities, keep the reception area clean, and maintain supplies.
- Process vendor and visitor sign‑ins according to facility policy and perform other related duties as assigned.
- Proficiency in administrative procedures, word processing, file and record management, and other office procedures.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Excellent customer service and phone etiquette; ability to communicate professionally with patients.
- Exceptional detail orientation, multitasking, and organizational skills with the ability to work independently.
- High stress tolerance and the ability to adapt to changing situations and maintain composure.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year of experience in customer service.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, internal equity and alignment with market data.
Employment for this position is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
