Job Description:

HPE’s Open Program Office team is seeking a senior‑level Open Community Strategic Programs Manager to drive strategic alignment of key open community initiatives on behalf of and across the company. This position plays a critical role in managing and supporting our Open Program Office (OPO), overseeing high‑priority open technology operations, strategic program initiatives, and helping evolve compliance, metrics reporting, and community engagement.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for open community collaboration. This is an exciting opportunity to drive impactful programs and shape HPE’s contributions to the open ecosystem. Open collaboration has become a vital asset for most, if not all high‑tech organizations, and HPE is no exception. The Open Program Office within HPE is responsible for ensuring that all product and solution teams understand the strategic benefits of open technologies, leverage their usage and contribution models, and comply with the open governance policies and processes established within HPE.

As a member of the team, you will help drive strategic alignment of HP’s open technology strategy and plans across product and solution teams and help educate them on the opportunities of open collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • AI Proposal Review:
    Evaluate and review AI‑related proposals to ensure alignment with compliance and strategic priorities.
  • System Administration:
    Maintain and administer critical infrastructure used by the Open Program Office to ensure team‑dependent infrastructure remains operational.
  • Engineering Seminars:
    Organize and lead webinars and workshops to expand open technology training within HPE.
  • Community Analytics Analysis:
    Analyze open community data to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Inner Sourcing:
    Assist in planning and execution of Inner Sourcing events and office hours to foster collaboration across teams.
  • Ad Hoc Reports/Consulting:
    Provide reports and consulting as needed to HPE teams.
  • OSS Advisor/Selection Tool:
    Develop and enhance tools for advising and selecting OSS projects, as bandwidth permits.
Required:
  • Self‑starter with 10 years proven experience in program management, system administration, analytics, and open community operations.
  • Strong understanding of software design & development.
  • BA or BS undergraduate degree.
  • Previous experience with open source software and other open technology communities.
  • Knowledge of open licensing and intellectual property concepts.
  • Strong programming and automation skills (e.g., Python, Bash scripting, Jenkins).
  • Familiarity with open source compliance tools and processes, including SBOM management.
  • Excellent organizational and multi‑tasking skills to manage diverse responsibilities and priorities.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to coordinate and train teams and communities.
Preferred:
  • Experience with AI and compliance processes.
  • Familiarity with analytics databases and community engagement tools.
  • Previous experience organizing webinars, seminars, or inner sourcing programs.
