Job Description Overview

Seeking a Power & Performance Tester to support a key initiative focused on improving software guidance and ensuring optimal battery performance across HP PC platforms. This role is essential in validating new software releases, identifying potential impacts on power consumption, and helping maintain the performance and reliability standards expected by HP customers.

What You'll Do
  • Evaluate Software Releases:
Support the software release cycle by auditing new builds, verifying stability, and ensuring readiness for scheduled shipment deadlines.
  • Battery Life Analysis:
Test and identify any software-related factors that could negatively impact battery life or overall power performance.
  • New Software Solution Validation:
Work with new technology inputs from the TIO team, assessing how upcoming software solutions may affect HP device power behavior.
  • Cross-Functional Checks:
Conduct cross-checks to ensure new software integrations do not conflict with existing system components or degrade performance.
  • Issue Identification & Reporting:
Go beyond check-the-box testing - analyze results, highlight concerns, and clearly articulate risks or anomalies to engineering teams.
  • Hands-On System Insight:
Apply PC hardware knowledge (preferably from gaming, PC building, or enthusiast-level experimentation) to thoroughly investigate system behavior and performance patterns.
Who You Are
  • Someone with a strong interest or background in gaming, building custom PCs, or hardware tinkering, with the curiosity to understand how systems behave under different workloads.
  • A detail-oriented tester who enjoys digging deeper to find root causes—not just validating steps.
  • Comfortable working hands-on with hardware and software across HP Inc. PC platforms.
  • Able to communicate findings clearly and collaborate with engineering and software teams.
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Familiarity with PC hardware components and system performance behavior.
  • Experience with software testing, performance benchmarking, or battery life measurement (a plus, but not required).
  • Strong analytical mindset and ability to document and escape issues effectively.
  • Understanding of Windows OS environments and general PC software ecosystems.
