Raise is a contract team member on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.
OverviewYou’ll build and support the server systems behind a five-year program that brings 6–10 brand-new terminal sites online each year. You’ll join a small Industrial IT team that supports more than 70 terminal sites worldwide, running Windows-based virtual Process Control (WPC) environments. A dedicated server admin handles daily triage, so you can focus on planned project work. You succeed here when new sites launch on schedule and existing servers stay patched, secure, and available.
Responsibilities- Build and set up servers for new terminal sites, working with several teams to get each site deployed.
- Patch servers quickly when security weaknesses (vulnerabilities) are found, working with cybersecurity partners.
- Help split one large domain into multiple smaller segments.
- Manage Windows virtual machines (VMs), plus some Linux VMs, for performance, security, and availability.
- Configure and maintain VMware 7.0 virtual infrastructure. Help install new Nutanix systems at air-gapped sites (sites cut off from outside networks) on Dell server hardware.
- Manage Active Directory (AD), including access controls, Group Policy, and Domain Name System (DNS).
- Submit change requests and get outage approvals for upgrades and patches.
- Set up and use Solar Winds or similar tools to monitor and report on server performance.
- Troubleshoot remote servers and Dell hardware. Join an on-call rotation of 12-hour day shifts, one week at a time.
- Document server setups, procedures, and best practices.
- You’ll work in two-week Agile sprints, and your schedule is capped at 40 hours a week. You’ll also get 8–12 weeks to learn the environment before you join the on-call rotation.
- 3–5 years of experience building, patching, and troubleshooting Windows servers
- Hands-on VMware experience, ideally version 7.0
- Strong Active Directory skills, including access controls and Group Policy
- Basic Power Shell or similar scripting skills, plus clear documentation habits
- Clear communication with customers and cybersecurity teams
- Ability to work onsite in Spring, TX and take part in on-call weeks
- Linux server experience
- Nutanix experience, especially new installs
- Knowledge of ICSRv4 standards or experience in process control environments
- Dell server hardware experience
- Solar Winds and ticketing tool experience
