Job Description & How to Apply Below
Tyler & Maderer, PLLC | Spring, TX (Hybrid after the first month) About the Firm

Tyler & Maderer, PLLC is a women-owned law firm serving Texas clients in estate planning, probate, elder law, special needs and trust consulting, guardianship, social security benefits and SSI, and long-term disability. We are growing our Elder Law practice, with a strong focus on Medicaid planning and applications, and are looking for a paralegal who wants to grow with us.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated paralegal to support our Medicaid planning, estate planning, and probate attorney. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives with autonomy, communicates confidently and warmly with clients over the phone, and takes ownership of tasks and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Medicaid planning cases from intake through application submission, including gathering financial documentation, verifying eligibility criteria, and preparing applications
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients via phone — our clients need a real voice, not just texts and emails
  • Support estate planning matters (wills, trusts, powers of attorney, etc); prior experience is a plus but not required — we will train the right candidate
  • Support probate practice: drafting documents and e-filing documents – prior experience is desired, but we will train the right candidate
  • Track case deadlines and proactively manage the attorney's calendar and task list, following up to ensure nothing slips
  • Draft, organize, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Medicaid planning process, and continually identify ways to improve workflow efficiency
  • Prepare and organize client files, correspondence, and legal documents
  • Communicate with government agencies (e.g., Clerk of Court, HHSC), financial institutions, and other third parties on behalf of clients
  • Handle basic administrative tasks independently
Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of paralegal experience in Medicaid planning at a law firm (required)
  • Estate planning and probate knowledge helpful, but not required — we're happy to train
  • Excellent phone communication skills; comfortable and confident speaking directly with clients
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and completes routine tasks independently
  • Comfortable managing up — keeping the attorney on track and accountable to deadlines
  • Experience creating or improving office procedures/SOPs a plus
  • Fast learner, detail-oriented, and efficient under deadline pressure
  • Proficient with standard legal office software (case management systems, Microsoft Office, e-filing platforms)
Schedule
  • Hybrid work will be discussed after one month of in office training
  • Standard business hours (details to be discussed with candidate)
  • Health insurance
  • Life insurance
  • IRA with employer match
  • 11 government holidays off
  • Firm closure December 25 – January 1 each year (paid)
