Essential Functions

Performs testing on metal objects to define their degree of hardness to insure product conformance to customer requirements.

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures including Health, Safety and Quality Assurance policies.
  • Report injuries, accidents, near misses or unsafe conditions to a Supervisor or Manager immediately.
  • Ensure that work areas are maintained in a neat and orderly manner at all times.
  • Performs receiving and in-process laboratory testing to support manufacturing protocols.
  • Accurately reads and interprets test data required to comply with product specifications.
  • Perform appropriate physical test on products and records data on manual or computerized system.
  • Follows standard operating procedures of lab functions and equipment.
  • Performs routine maintenance on testing equipment.
  • Ensures product is tested and approved per specification; informs management of non-conforming materials or products.
  • Completes lab test reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Experience
  • Entry level or 1 or more years of quality experience and/or training in a regulated industry with 3 years of related lab technician experience preferred; previous experience in a manufacturing or machining environment preferred; background in fasteners or similar industry preferred; knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements preferred
Skills and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); preferred.
  • Able to read, understand, interpret and follow detailed work instructions and manufacturing specifications.
  • Able to effectively operate laboratory equipment requiring precise adjustment of controls for valid results.
  • Able to follow detailed procedures and ensure accuracy in documentation and data; carefully monitor gauges, instruments, or processes; concentrate on routine work details
  • Ability to adjust to changes without compromising Quality or Performance
  • Must be able to work a shift schedule and overtime as needed, including weekends
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to stand for the duration of scheduled shift
  • Ability to manually load or unload materials onto or off of pallets, skids, platforms up to weighing 25-150 lbs
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close, Distance, Peripheral, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus
  • Manual dexterity using hands, fingers, and arms to push, pull, reach, grab, hold, lift, and hammer
Work Environment
  • Manufacturing and warehouse environment with multi step process production runs on different machines. High value highly customized components, long and large parts, and high precision manufacturing for critical service applications
