OverviewAs a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse), you will support plasma center operations, ensuring high‑quality plasma collection and donor safety while delivering outstanding customer service.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, manage informed consent, AIDS education, self‑exclusion, medical history interview, and physical examination.
- Conduct blood testing, review serological protein electrophoresis (SPE), and interpret laboratory test results.
- Manage donor adverse events, evaluate donor reactions, and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Coordinate with the Center Physician and Medical Affairs for medical concerns and provide guidance on donor safety and eligibility.
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for staff.
- Manage employee incidents and assess the need for occupational health or ER evaluation.
- Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, leading investigations related to pandemic threats.
- High school diploma or equivalent, including a graduate‑level recognized nursing program with state requirements.
- Licensed or certified LPN or LVN in the state where duties are performed.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Basic IV therapy certification (state requirements).
- Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of clinical or hospital experience.
- Hourly wage: $23.85 – $32.79 (actual wage dependent on qualifications and experience).
- Sign‑on bonus: $2,500 available.
