Retail Team Member - Events Coordinator

Job Location:

Spring, TX. Store: HSTN-SPRING, TX.

Job Summary

Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events within a Michaels store to provide a stress‑free, fun, and engaging experience for guests. Deliver friendly customer service, help customers shop, find what they’re looking for, and provide a fast, friendly checkout. Complete operational tasks including truck unloads, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate multiple events, such as children’s birthday parties and craft classes.
  • Engage clients of all ages, creating an environment of fun and creativity.
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects; perform face painting and other activities.
  • Facilitate and implement party add‑ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards.
  • Communicate event details with clients and store team members.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork.
  • Adjust plans based on client feedback and needs.
  • Create backup or emergency plans as needed.
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
  • Uphold cleanliness and safety standards; set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.
  • Help customers shop, locate products, and provide solutions.
  • Provide fast, friendly checkout experiences.
  • Enroll customers in Rewards programs and Private Label Credit Cards.
  • Educate customers on the Voice of Customer (VOC) survey.
  • Assist with omni‑channel processes such as BOPIS and SFS.
  • Participate in truck unload, stocking and planogram processes.
  • Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance.
  • Perform SISO and AD set duties as assigned.
  • Support shrink and safety programs.
  • Adhere to SOPs and company programs to ensure compliance.
  • Interact respectfully and positively, serving as a role model.
  • Cross‑trained in Custom Framing selling and production.
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities (sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, restroom maintenance).
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Energetic, enthusiastic personality.
  • Ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with guests of all ages and co‑workers.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Experience working with children and children’s events.
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, non‑verbal, listening).
  • Organizational, interpersonal, and creative problem‑solving skills.
  • Retail and/or customer service experience required.
Physical Requirements
  • Remain standing for long periods.
  • Move throughout the store.
  • Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching.
  • Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves via ladder or similar equipment.
  • Contact supervisor for reasonable accommodation if needed.
  • Work in a public retail store setting, including climate‑controlled public areas, non‑climate‑controlled stock rooms, and occasional outdoor work (retrieving carts, unloading trucks). Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.
