What role you will play in our team- Champion mass spectrometry technologies and its advanced applications for R&D and business.
- Solve problems in energy industry using advanced mass spectrometry techniques.
- Assist research programs involving the molecular characterization of complex mixtures using primarily High Resolution Mass Spectrometric methods.
- Sample analysis may include but is not limited to: microbial lipids and metabolites, sediment and source rock extracts, and crude oils.
Skills and Qualifications
- Possess a B.S. with 5 years’ experience or M.S. science degree in chemistry or related field.
- Prior experience with MS techniques (GC-MS, LC-MS, TOF-MS, FTICR-MS) including analyses, data processing and instrument maintenance.
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow proper lab procedures.
- Willingness to be involved in research that is highly exploratory in nature and may support programs within division and affiliate organizations.
- Good communication skills for understanding and describing scientific observations, experimental plans and results, equipment and material design concepts.
- Ability to quickly learn new tasks and integrate them into workflows.
- Organized, punctual, and takes full responsibility for laboratory procedural compliance and safe laboratory operations including equipment maintenance, chemical and supply ordering, chemical inventory, safe handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals.
- Effective in a team working environment, enjoys challenges, and committed to lifelong learning.
- Knowledge of ionization techniques (ESI, APCI, APPI, MALDI) and fragmentation methods.
- Apply advanced software tools for compositional mapping (e.g., Kendrick mass analysis, DBE calculations).
- Programming or scripting skills for data automation (Python) is a plus.
