Key Functions, Essential Duties, And Responsibilities
  • Conducts monthly inspections of all roof surfaces across District facilities to assess overall condition, identify potential issues, and maintain records of inspection results.
  • Inspects roofs under warranty to verify compliance with warranty terms, document any issues, and report findings to designated personnel for necessary follow-up.
  • Identifies and addresses roof leaks by diagnosing the source of leaks, determining necessary repairs, and scheduling and performing repairs to prevent further damage and maintain roof integrity.
  • Performs roof repairs as needed, using appropriate materials and tools, while adhering to District safety and maintenance standards.
  • Operates high-pressure cleaning machines to clean brick walls and exterior surfaces of District buildings, maintaining a safe and clean exterior environment.
  • Conducts sheet metal fabrication and installation as necessary, ensuring accurate installation and repair of sheet metal components related to roofing and building structures.
  • Provides support to other maintenance personnel as needed for various maintenance tasks, fostering teamwork and ensuring efficient operations across the department.
  • Reports all work activities and issues to the Maintenance Coordinator and Director of Maintenance, ensuring transparency and accountability in maintenance operations.
  • Maintains detailed records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities, ensuring accurate documentation for internal records and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitors inventory of roofing materials and supplies, ensuring necessary materials are available for timely repairs and maintenance work.
  • Inspects drainage systems on roofs to ensure proper water flow and prevent pooling or water damage to roof structures.
  • Coordinates with external contractors for specialized roofing repairs or installations when necessary, ensuring compliance with District standards.
  • Performs preventative maintenance tasks, such as sealing roof joints and applying weatherproofing treatments, to extend the life of roofing materials.
  • Assists in snow or debris removal from roofs when needed to maintain safety and prevent structural strain.
  • Conducts routine safety checks on roofing equipment and tools to ensure all gear is in safe working order and compliant with safety standards.
  • Documents all repairs and maintenance work in District maintenance software, contributing to accurate tracking of facility upkeep.
  • Provides roofing-related support for other maintenance projects as needed, contributing expertise in roofing to ensure project success.
  • Participates in safety training sessions and stays updated on best practices for roofing and building maintenance to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Responds to emergency roofing issues as needed to protect District assets and ensure the safety of all facilities.
Compliance
  • Performs all assigned work activities in accordance with the standard procedures and protocols established by the Grounds and Maintenance Department and the District. Ensures compliance with all relevant standards, practices, and regulatory requirements, including but not limited to those set by OSHA, EPA, Texas Administrative Code, and District-specific policies.
  • Demonstrates and maintains up-to-date knowledge of compliance related requirements and standards as they pertain to areas including, but not limited to, safety, environmental responsibility, and relevant roofing standards, ensuring adherence to safety, health, and operational codes while efficiently managing hazardous materials, chemical handling, and inventory systems to support the overall safety and environmental effectiveness of District facilities.
  • Monitors respective work activity for variances and anomalies.
  • Identifies and timely reports any known or suspected compliance issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Assists with audits and the preparation for audits, whether initiated internally or externally, as assigned.
