Overview
This is an as needed position to assist with weekend/holiday coverage and will support locations in Bentonville and Springdale.
General DescriptionCircle of Life Hospice and its Physicians are engaged in the provision of interdisciplinary services for the management of terminal illness and other palliative care. Under the direction of the Executive Medical Director, the Contract Physician will make rounds on patients in the inpatient units and will see new admits during coverage of inpatient units.
Responsibilities- Determining Eligibility/Ineligibility of referred patients
- Disease management and pain and symptom management for hospice patients
- Direct medical care for hospice patients
- Clinical and public education regarding hospice care
- Guidance to hospice NP or nurse as they provide direct patient care
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Experience in care of terminally ill patients. Demonstrated ability to promote teamwork and collaboration.
Education/CredentialsDoctor of Medicine or Osteopathy without restrictions in State of Arkansas. Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible for a Specialty, preferably Family Medicine or Internal Medicine. Hospice and Palliative Medicine or Geriatric board certification desirable.
Professional RequirementsProfessional Standards and Compliance with Law. Physician must at all times comply with the ethics and professional standards of the medical profession; applicable federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations;
Hospice's policies and procedures; and the rules and regulations that are applicable to Hospice, including accreditation and certification requirements.
DEA:
Physician must maintain registration with the Drug Enforcement Administration and any applicable state agency without any limitation on authority to prescribe drugs and provide current proof of registration upon request.
Medicare and Medicaid Eligibility:
Physician must be a qualified Medicare and Medicaid provider. Physician must never have been excluded from participation in any federally funded health care program and has not been convicted or found to have violated any federal or state fraud and abuse law or illegal remuneration law.
Medical Staff Privileges:
Physician shall maintain unrestricted medical staff membership and clinical admitting privileges at the hospice home which Circle of Life operates.
Qualify for Hospice's Professional Liability Insurance Coverage:
Physician must qualify for insurance coverage under the hospice's professional liability policy.
