Position: Payroll Clerk 3

Our Client, a American Network Infrastructure Provider company, is looking for a Payroll Clerk 3 for their Springfield, IL location.

Responsibilities
  • The main function of a Payroll Clerk is to compile and post employee time and payroll data.
  • May compute employees' time worked, production, and commission
  • May compute and post wages and deductions
  • May prepare paychecks.
  • Responsible for processing and reviewing multi-state payrolls to ensure accuracy and adherence to company policies and government regulations.
  • Ensures employees have proper tax jurisdiction setup and required forms.
  • Analyze and remit benefit deductions.
  • Assists in preparing input for special payments.
  • Works closely with management on issues and projects as assigned.
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely processing of assigned multi-state payrolls including processing payments for bonuses, commissions, short term disability, new hires, termination payouts, pay increases, and transfers.
  • Assist with reviewing payrolls; identify errors and/or discrepancies and work with payroll coordinators to rectify
  • Prepare payroll import files for additional pays, bonuses, commissions, awards, etc.
  • Establish and maintain a positive relationship with HR, supervisors and managers
  • Ensure timely submission of payroll related data to meet deadlines
  • Reconcile, balance and submit wire request for payroll/benefits funding
  • Assist with audits by collecting backup for selected samples
  • Prepare ad hoc reports on payroll related items and perform an analysis of data as assigned or requested by management
  • Assist with payroll tax related inquiries and resolutions as requested by management
  • Provide ongoing assistance to users of payroll systems
  • Participate on payroll system conversions and upgrade project teams
  • Assist with year-end processes and W-2 distribution
Requirements
  • Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and critical thinking.
  • Ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
  • Ability to apply accounting and mathematical principles to work as needed.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations as related to accounting.
  • Previous experience with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and any other related accounting software.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's degree in accounting or related financial discipline preferred.
  • 5-7 years financial and/or accounting experience required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent:
  • Associate’s in related curriculum such as
  • Bachelor’s in related curriculum such as Accounting/Finance
  • Master’s in related curriculum such
  • Minimum of 2 years payroll or accounting experience required
  • Experience processing multi-state payrolls and knowledge of taxes and payroll related benefits (i.e. 401k, HSA, FSA, etc) preferred
  • Prior experience with SAP, UKG, and Kronos systems preferred
  • Proficient in Excel and comfortable using VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be well organized, able to work under time constraints, and be able to multi task
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Must have strong ethics and a commitment to continually preserving the integrity and security of employee data
