Program Assistant – Student Engagement and Wellbeing

Join the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce as a Program Assistant supporting student engagement and wellbeing initiatives. This full‑time role (40 hours per week, Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) requires clerical and program support for events and programs sponsored by the Office of Student Engagement & Wellbeing.



Job Description

Summary:

If you love organizing events, supporting students, and keeping operations running smoothly behind the scenes, this position is a great fit. You will provide clerical and program support, coordinate logistics, and assist with student services initiatives.

Benefits: 23 paid holidays a year, including two weeks at year‑end and one week in March for mid‑semester break; 12 Fridays off in summer; 2 personal days and 15 sick days; 10 vacation days per year (increasing with tenure). Tuition waiver available for staff, spouses, and eligible dependents. Free access to the on‑campus fitness center.

Salary: Starting salary likely between $38,514 and $44,253 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or high school diploma/GED with at least 2 years of clerical experience.
  • Excellent organizational, customer service, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills; ability to work with diverse student populations.
  • Proficient computer skills and eagerness to master new technologies.
  • Strong ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities effectively.
  • Availability to work occasional nights and weekends for events.
  • Commitment to service excellence and high motivation.
  • Team orientation; effective collaboration and independent work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with leadership, supervision, public speaking, event coordination, and student services.
