Job Overview
Join – apply for the Child Development Assistant I role at The Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce (LLCC). This Full‑time position (40 hours/week, 12 months/year) involves assisting classroom teachers, implementing daily activities, reporting health concerns, maintaining clean and safe classrooms, supporting kitchen and classroom supplies, performing laundry duties, and preparing breakfast, supplements, and catered meals.
ResponsibilitiesIn this role you will:
- Support the teaching and learning effort in the Child Development Center.
- Assist teachers with implementing daily activities.
- Report health concerns to classroom teachers.
- Help maintain clean, safe, and healthy classroom environments.
- Assist the Assistant Director in monitoring kitchen and classroom supplies.
- Perform laundry duties.
- Prepare breakfast, supplements, and catered meals.
Enjoy 7 paid holidays a year, paid winter break, a 4‑day work week for 12 weeks during the summer, 2 personal days, 15 sick days, and starting with 10 vacation days per year. Salary ranges: $17.25–$18.25 per hour ($35,880–$37,960 per year). With preferred qualifications, the starting salary may be $18.52–$21.28 per hour ($38,514–$44,253 per year). Promotion to Child Development Assistant II is available to staff who obtain an ECE Credential Level II.
Required Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of prior experience in a child‑care setting.
- Must enroll in coursework or training to attain an ECE Credential Level II or higher.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Ability to obtain a Food Service Sanitation Certificate.
- Current physical and TB test and record of immunizations, including 1 dose of Tdap and 2 doses of MMR or evidence of immunity.
- Associate’s degree in Child Development/Early Childhood Education or equivalent.
- ECE Credential Level 4 and Paraprofessional Licensure.
- Carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Stand for long periods of time.
- Walk up to 1 mile.
- Grip, hold and pinch small objects.
- Dexterity to reach, bend, squat, stoop and kneel on a regular basis.
- Frequent climbing (e.g., ladders, stairs).
