Base pay range: $20.00/hr (see pay & benefits). This role reports to the Site Director and is a Non-Exempt position located at the Satellite Site.
Responsibilities- Plans and implements activities within budget constraints to achieve program objectives. Prepares monthly reports reflecting activities, including attendance and program participation for the Site Director and/or Director of Satellite Operations.
- Provides regular schedules and reports of activities to the Site Director and/or Director of Satellite Operations; supports program development, implementation, supervision and outcome measurement.
- Assists with recruiting participants, focusing on personal development through diverse program offerings and increasing attendance and participation.
- Implements guidance and discipline policies; maintains records related to participant conduct and development.
- Recommends new program offerings and identifies prospective community resources/volunteers.
- Plans and implements special events and activities to showcase participant skills.
- Provides guidance for participants assigned through BGCCIL projects; uses intake forms and tracking to assess needs and attendance.
- Develops opportunities for participation in outside educational, recreational, and leadership activities; plans and leads field trips.
- Coordinates with Volunteer Coordinator for recruitment of volunteers; supervises and recognizes volunteers.
- Represents the organization to participants, parents, community organizations and the public; promotes BGCCIL programs.
- Involves parents in addressing participant development issues and fosters their involvement.
- Maintains facility cleanliness and order; supports program area upkeep.
- Supports activities in other program areas as assigned.
Specific Duties
- Assists with student completion and organization of assignments; maintains records of assignment completion.
- Checks and maintains information concerning grade records of participating students; collaborates with classroom teachers to coordinate assignments.
- Provides enrichment materials and coordinates attendance and disciplinary procedures with Site Director.
- Monitors youth mentors and supports their activities.
- Internal: Maintains contact with Site management staff and Site Director/Director of Satellite Operations to ensure policy consistency.
- External: Maintains positive relationships with school district personnel, participants’ parents and the public to resolve problems and publicize BGCCIL programs.
- Current Illinois teaching certificate.
- Availability Monday through Thursday; program hours starting as early as 1:30pm and ending as late as 6:30pm, plus planning time as requested.
- Knowledge of youth development; ability to motivate and guide youth through positive relationships; demonstrated care and respect for participants.
- Ability to relate to the public, parents and BGCCIL participants in a friendly, professional manner.
- Ability to convey BGCCIL policies and implement appropriate guidance and discipline.
- Ability to organize and supervise participants to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.
- Mandatory CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Valid Illinois Driver’s License.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; enthusiastic and energetic in interactions with participants, parents, supervisors and the public.
- Sitting and standing as needed; full use of limbs and at least one hand.
- Full verbal, color vision, and hearing ability.
- Lift up to 50 pounds on occasion; ability to intervene in youth settings as needed.
- Driving may be required (valid IL driver’s license).
- May be exposed to outdoor weather, moderate to loud noise, and potentially dangerous situations including youth conflicts or medical incidents.
- Possible exposure to airborne diseases or unsafe materials; risk of vehicle incidents while driving agency vehicles.
- Work may occur near active youth programs and during activities with physical components.
- As of 01/2025: pay is $20/hour.
