The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Associate Director’s Office, Office of Energy, seeks an Executive I to serve as Energy Project Coordinator for designated energy programs. This role supports the planning, development, and implementation of energy initiatives, projects, and policies in coordination with the Office of Energy Manager and Associate Director. Candidates should have experience in emission reductions, renewable energy, energy planning, energy efficiency, and/or energy assurance, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
EssentialFunctions
- Act as Energy Projects Coordinator for assigned areas.
- Develop alliances with external stakeholders and cultivate internal and external relationships with advocacy groups, utilities, renewable energy providers, academia, community groups, industry, and elected officials.
- Assist the Office of Energy Manager in administering the Energy Program.
- Monitor program activities and reporting for assigned areas.
- Perform other duties as reasonably within scope of the responsibilities above.
- Four years of college education, preferably in business or public administration.
- One year of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization, or completion of an agency‑approved professional management training program.
- At least one year of experience in energy policy, program design and implementation, or energy incentive programs.
- At least one year of experience developing and presenting informational programs to large and small groups.
- Experience managing a small functional program in a public or private organization.
- Experience analyzing administrative problems and adopting an effective course of action.
- Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships.
- Knowledge of public and business administration principles and practices.
- Work–day procedures, performance standards, and governmental accounting, program budgeting, personnel, statistics, and procurement.
- Current and valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to travel required.
- Must pass a name‑based background check.
- Subject to revolving‑door restrictions per 5 ILCS 430/5‑45.

8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday
