Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking a candidate to fill a full-time Civil/Railway position.
At the core of our Transportation practice is the desire to be good stewards of the public’s resources while incorporating improvements into the surrounding environment. As engineering professionals, we plan, design, and permit railway projects and observe construction efforts across the U.S. and abroad. We are seeking candidates for a full-time Civil/Railway position in one of the following offices:
- Kansas City
- Chicago
- St Louis
- Springfield
- Peoria
- Corpus Christi
- Houston
- Sarasota
- Indy
- Mc Henry
- Bellevue
Position Profile
This role primarily involves designing railroad track and yard projects and related construction observation. The candidate should be able to work on various projects, take direction from multiple supervisors, and coordinate with other staff. This role offers entry-level individuals the chance to learn and grow, while more experienced candidates can expand their project experience and leadership skills.
A Day in the Life of a Civil Railway Designer at Hanson
- Work on project teams as a designer and construction observer
- Coordinate and communicate field construction activities with contractors and designers
- Coordinate and observe onsite materials testing
- Lead or assist with field investigations, analysis, calculations, and preparation of civil plans, specifications, and estimates on rail-related projects
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications include:
- CAD experience and/or willingness to learn Micro Station
- Experience designing with Micro Station Connect / Open Roads is a plus
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and technical writing skills
- Ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
- Educational requirements vary by experience level, from a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (with optional FE/Engineer In Training Certification) for entry-level to P.E. licensure and rail design experience for senior candidates
Pay Range: $72,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience.
