Senior Structural Engineer - Bridge & Inspection

Lead bridge inspections and structural evaluations across Illinois — combining technical expertise with the opportunity to guide a specialized bridge inspection team.

Salary: $150,000 - $225,000 per year

Our client is an established engineering consulting firm providing structural, transportation, and infrastructure services. This opportunity is focused on bridge inspections and structural evaluations, with an emphasis on technical leadership, field execution, and the delivery of high-quality inspection work.

• Technical leadership:
  Guide bridge inspection teams and provide senior-level engineering oversight.
• Engineering focus:
  Beyond simple inspection work, there are various project opportunities across design and analysis
• Meaningful infrastructure work:
  Help evaluate the condition and safety of bridges and transportation structures.
• Field and office variety:
  Combine hands-on inspections with structural analysis, reporting, and project coordination.
• Career ownership:
  Take responsibility for inspection assignments and support the development of junior engineers.
• Specialized expertise:
  Work within a focused bridge inspection and structural engineering practice.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
• Significant professional experience in bridge engineering and bridge inspections.
• Active PE or SE license.
• Experience leading bridge inspection teams or serving in a senior technical role.
• Knowledge of bridge inspection procedures, structural evaluation, and condition documentation.
• Strong technical report writing and communication skills.
• Ability to perform field inspections and travel to bridge sites as needed.

• Illinois bridge inspection team leader designation or applicable qualifications.
• Experience with IDOT bridge inspection projects and procedures.
• Familiarity with NBIS requirements and FHWA bridge inspection standards.
• Experience with bridge load ratings, structural analysis, and rehabilitation recommendations.
• Experience managing inspection teams, project schedules, and client deliverables.
